Discussion at wiki.musichackday.org about Drinkfy
Adam: This is very cool, but maybe look into accessing All Music Guide’s adjective/mood descriptors. Also, just add more potential ingredients for cocktails maybe. Maybe run a check first if any of the words in the band aname hits a key word from an ingredient and have it incorporate that, or draw some connections between specific words? Drinking an “Agent Orange” with speed is great, but maybe orange vodka? Blue Oyster Cult, blue curacao? Peaches is already vodka, why not the extra mile for peach Schnapps? The best ones are hilarious, they just need to happen more often!
Rachael: For Beastie Boys, I think you should put down a Brass Monkey instead of a lemon vodka.
Mark: This site is cool. You should definitely allow plugging in what you are drinking to find out what you should be listening to. I’m not gonna stumble out to the store for a gallon of ice cream just cuz I’m listening to Phish, but I’ll gladly change tracks to ensure my hot-buttered rum is properly accompanied! great work
Shelley: There has to be some fine tuning I think (when I think Siouxsie and the Banshees I don’t think vodka and shrimp), but this is such a great idea! I think if in the future you can isolate them to even albums of an artist and correlate that to a drink that would be a neat function. Oh and an error page when the user misspells the name.
Travis: I know this is just a hack day project, but I like it. Some sort of sanity check to make them real drinks would be amazing though. (I can not drink 20 oz of alcohol, even over a full discography most times.)
Frank: This was great, although you should make it fail more gracefully. Also, Travis, when it told me to drink 20+oz of alcohol, I had put in Nickelback, in which case I might just want to kill myself
Chris: This totally shows the bad perception on metal by the main stream workers of last.fm itunes etc… type in Eluviete, a great folk metal band recommended drink 6 oz LSD… I dare any of you to go to a real metal show like eluviete you know what you will find . You will find hundreds of metal heads drinking a beer and having a great time you know what you wont see LSD also 8oz of blood for keep of kalessian ?
Mikael Tolfström, Sweden – Awesome work guys! I really hope this will be kept alive for a long, long time. Pure awesomesauce.
JJ: Fun app! It was very helpful for most of my musical choices –but when I desperately needed a drink suggestion for listening to my favorite Slavic-Saskatchewan dance band, The Royal Polka Kings, the app broke.
-Well, beautiful kind’o webpage. As mentioned above: The other way round would be also appropriated. And then what’s about “Eatify”? Damnd’n every eve question: What should I cook for Dinner?
Raphael: Really a fantastic app! Makes me giggle. The mistakes are hilarious, though – for the Australian children’s music group the Wiggles (y’know, with the octopus and Captain Feathersword and four overly cheery guys) it recommended 2 oz. Old Rip Van Winkle Bourbon, 2 oz. Coco López, and 4 oz. Rum. I have not since stopped laughing.
