Do you get annoyed with the word Shortcut written next to every new shortcut you make in Windows 7&Vista? If your answer is yes, then you should consider removing it. The best possible way that i use to remove it was through Registry editing which doesn’t require any 3rd party tools to be installed.
To start, open your Registry Editor by typing regedit in the Search box in the Start menu.
Now navigate all the way down to: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer
Here you will find a key named Link with default value as: 1e 00 00 00, 1b 00 00 00, 1c 00 00 00, or whatever. Now open it and change the value to 00 00 00 00
Restart your computer and you are done. From now you won’t find any shortcut text, next to every shortcut you make.
Please Note: Make sure you have made a backup of your Registry before you start.
